In the debate about mobile phone free school and collection of mobiles, here's a small Obstructions.
To 4. classes were allegedly stolen their total collected mobiles on Sundbyøster School Amager Friday. 18.11.17.
In a discussion of Facebook group Amager tells a user about the episode, which of course creates resentment and anger. In order to make stop motion – who would steal from children?
A parent reports in the thread that her daughter saw an unknown man do it, suggesting, it is not employed. Thankfully when. Police have not yet commented on the incident, but hopefully there will be something soon.
The problem here is diverse, and it calls into question many things.
No.. 1: How is it possible at all to get near mobiles?
Were they locked up and they were good enough read inside? An ordinary school locker can easily be opened, and an unprotected and open classroom is a small matter to move unseen in. The school had a policy of rules for maintaining the, and it had taken a position on safety?
I'm afraid the answer is probably no. Schools have no experience, capacity and equipped to handle the valuables of the amount, as an entire class mobiles are. It's a new issue, as many do not have imagined could happen. Which brings me to problem No.. 2:
No.. 2: How do we ensure that this kind does not happen, and who is responsible here?
Because mobiles are private property, the school has no liability, which puts a new question the trend of collection. If to be collected, how should it be done with acceptable safety? This kind of theft can not happen, but it is a real danger, which now brings parents in a challenged economic situation. It is their own insurance, which will replace the mobiles, but the companies have precedent and experience, to address the matter? It is not always, that your insurance covers stolen items outside the home.
I would like to go beyond the point of view 'so they can resist, to take them 'and talk about the factual problem. Many times it is school policy, the children to have their own equipment. still without, that schools are responsible for a packed technology. It is something of a dilemma.
How do we ensure that this kind does not happen? I feel sorry for those poor teachers, who must handle the situation with children, has been robbed in their own school and parents, which now must find the right grimace to the whole situation. That brings me to the issue 3:
No.. 3: Who directed shit storm now against?
The school must now stand skoleret, and what should this kind of precedent teach us? Authority for the school has dropped dramatically, and it is common to both students and parents confronted school staff.
Neither the teachers or school management expect responsiveness here, and we can not expect that weak souls just leave not steal another time. Those poor kids' mobiles gives an idiot money in your pocket, and as long as they are easy to get to, it will happen again. It's easy money. Many of them.
If we look at the average value of an entire class mobile phones, 28 STKS with a head weight of iPhones and other expensive smart phones in different variations, we talk staggering amount of 6 figures. An old iPhone can be sold for more 1000 kr. ($199), so it is a lucrative business.
No.. 4: So what do we do now?
There is a clear need for collection of more schools, since they choose to do so. Mobile is here to stay, and we have to deal with the new problems that come with.
Once again comes the development and its consequences behind us, and we must adapt to new.
Had mobiles lying in the children's bags, theft had been far more costly in time and opportunity, to be discovered. In other words, the collection is easier to steal them to school tomorrow small unguarded moments. There must be resolved, as to become a normal part of the school mobile policy.
It was the first and most obvious problems. Allow me to take the consequences of this kind of theft one step further. Not before, to be alarmist but, to take the worst case scenario also. When I, with many years of experience in children and technique can think tank, people with deleting scenes also make it.
No.. 5: What about the problem areas by, that strangers have children mobiles?
I expect, of course, the children have codes on the phones and, therefore, it is not easy to get into, but will enter, then there are many methods. Without loss of the data on your phone, and data – whatever form – is valuable. In other words, not only the mobile phone, having a value. To know, what children are doing and on the mobile phone can be used for many things, and not everyone is particularly pleasant to contemplate.
Therefore, I hope, the parents of children with the stolen mobiles have changed password ALT, what the children. Social Media, games and all other kinds of apps using the login. ALT. For access to these must not fall into the murky human hands.
The mobile phone is a very private piece of technology, as we design their own preference and behavior. We must be ready to, that our use new situations and we are not prepared, we must learn from our experiences.

Being against mobile ban is not a popular stance. 'How can you be too anything, which is harmful? Mobile phones are obviously rubbish, especially for our children. '
Last Thursday I attended DR2s Deadline in a debate with Imran Rashid and Lise Aammitzbøll la Cour on mobile prohibitions and mobile phone free school. the starting point was the chronic by Imran Rashid and Anette Prehn which appeared the same day in Politiken.
People's reactions are mildly been mixed, but I expected nothing less. It was inter alia. commented, I was unrealistic and did not understand, what happens in practice. For some reason it went many ears past, I am a practitioner who lives what I am speaking about.
The topic of mobile ban must and nuance
Well – in a debate, which arouses so many emotions it is surely difficult to hear the whole. Someone must inherently be in the firing line with your mobile phone, and I imagine like. The topic of mobile ban should and must be nuanced. The mobile phone is made public eye and wish to sacrifice on the scaffold in search of 'the eternal reason'. Consensus has been, the mobile phone is the perpetrator.
I would agree, if it were to give a gizmo blame. A dead, mechanically made things. Mobile can not – or will be – guilty of anything, it requires awareness. It requires continuing, what a piece of technology has not.
That it can be added 'personality' and ‘handling’ through software and applications, which adapts to the human user's needs and wants, do not live. It does not consciously or provides the ability to continue well, creating habits and vices.
Therefore neither can nor will I be against mobile phones and any other kind of 'smart technology'.
We acquire a dead gizmo guilt
It is man, that should be the focus here, for it is we who are the only ones with 'guilt', continue and the ability actions. Either as users or producers.
I'm generally hesitant, using the term 'Convenience' In this context. It is not useful, as it often ends in reproaches and prohibition. just the, that flourish at this time.
We must get away from this approach and focus on human interaction with technology. We must realize and recognize the fact, that we have not used the technology just appropriate because we have not known, how this should be done.
we adults – the so-called digital tenants – has taken it to us at lightning speed, at least privately. Nobody could follow, so in the digital and technological developments slipstream happened it, as always happens in uncontrolled / incomprehensible environments. We have in good faith tried to adapt, and now we are faced with the consequences. The train goes too fast, and we have the choice to stop completely at, smash rails or slow down quietly. None of us knew how we would manage train, So what do we?
Mobile Prohibition is a short term strategy
I advokerer for, that we use the method to slow down, for historically flash solutions rarely made any easier. With each ban has come backlash which was not particularly worthwhile or practical. In my view, it is' wetting for, keeping warm 'solution, which provides immediate effect but do not make a difference in length. What do we learn the children by taking the phone away in learning situations, and only give them the return to fun and games?
The short answer is, we simply reinforce the existing trend. We teach them, making mobile toys over, to give them the tools, it also offers. Should we create livsduelige children, which can manage the world they live in and equip them for the future, we must meet them here and now.
Of course we have mobile breaks
I firmly believe, the children to have breaks from your phone. Many of them! It should not be under their pillow at night or bimle in your pocket in teaching. It is not to create insulation in play situations, used to call parents by conflicts in the school or institution.
Children should basically not equipped with smartphones before they are old enough to understand its value, and mobile phones are not necessary for our young children. Going forward, we should all take the responsibility of our children, and let them be channeled quietly into the mobile world.
It starts with the adults
Here and now we must jointly take responsibility and teach them to use gizmo, as they already have. Parents, Educators, teachers and politicians. It starts with us, dear medvoksne, and claims we do not opportunity, I think, that we fail another generation of children. We need to start with the digital upbringing, and it can only go slowly.
Our young people have been left to themselves, and it's clean 'Lord of the Flies' online. We owe it to them to participate, even though we own actions and lack thereof has laid the foundation for their lives already. What we can do for young people is, giving them responsibility, democratic understanding and use our voksenhjerners capacity and experience, to advise and guide.
It is not easy but we must not stop
I myself have been in the classroom. I've even been on the institution floors. I have mentored and taught colleagues and parents, so I know the frustrations and problems relating to their own body.
There is nothing easy about it here, but that should not stop us from doing it! Prohibition may stop the current battle, but the fight does not stop. The time for conscious, digital upbringing has come, and the first step is to take responsibility. Not just here and now but today and every day thereafter.

On December 4. maj blev der på ‘2017 Pediatric Academic Societies Meeting’, held in San Francisco, presented a report pointing to, to 'screen time' for very young children can delay their ability, at tale.
As this study appeared on social media was my first thought: Oh no. Now it is only a matter of time before it becomes simplified, and facts about the topic watered down in favor of sensations journalism.
We live in a time, where there are trenches between the pros and cons camp. A time, where data can not draw a clear answer, the technology is to promote or hamper children.
It is a hugely important topic, and should be treated with respect and care for there are too many emotions caught.
As a specialist in child and IT through gradually 8 years of age, I am very interested in all objective research on the subject. Unfortunately we have acquired the habit of throwing us in grams of pseudo-science and prophecies. This study must and will not end the same place.
So, What is this study shows?
between the years 2011 and 2015 has 894 children aged 6 to 24 months participated in a study of the scientific network TARget Kids!. The goal was to find out about 'screen time' vulnerable children's language development based on the 'screens are all over the place'.
“Handheld devices are everywhere these days,” said Dr. Catherine Birken, MD, MSc, FRCPC, the study’s principal investigator and a staff pediatrician and scientist at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids)
Quote from Science Daily
The children's effect was tested in the context of a compulsory test, made by children. A test called ‘Nipissing District Developmental Screen and the Infant Toddler Checklist’, whose purpose is to discover children's language development or delay it. Here is one of the questions: 'Say your child 20 words or more '. A standard as before 2011 hed 5 words.
The parents themselves, which answers these test questions in connection with the child's 18-month study, which is standard practice in Canada. Comparison with Danish conditions can be found at this guide from Fureso municipality.
Will 30 minutes do 49 % difference?
The study showed, at 20 % of the participating children had an average consumption of handheld devices on 28 minutes.
The test also showed, that the more ‘screen time‘ infant exposure, the greater the delay was in the child's verbal communication skills. Not in their capacity for social interaction or bodily expression.
The report concludes, that for every 30 minute screen time a child under 2 years, he the 49 % greater chance of, the child developing speech later than normal.
The conclusion is, however, initial, stresses Dr. Cathrine Birken, study spearheaded by the Canadian team of scientists and doctors behind:
“It’s the first time that we’ve sort of shone a light on this potential issue, but I think the results need to be tempered (because) it’s really a first look.”
Quote from CNN
The experts change their minds
It is worth pointing out, at American Academy of Pediatrics, which until last year rejected all use of screens for children under 2 years of age, has changed its mind and now recommend 'quality apps with adults'.
AAP otherwise has for years been a fierce opponent of the children and Technology, so their easing says a lot about, what developments are constantly going on in the area.
So – we should be worried?
My answer is no but ...
There has been a huge development in the handheld technology of the time, where scientists have been underway. They put into just about implementation of the iPad 2, which helped to make the touch screen everyone's lives. Our approach to technology has been characterized by our own enthusiasm for the new possibilities, we completely without information have plunged us into.
My but appears here, where the consequences of our lack of knowledge has undoubtedly created problems with our development – regardless of age.
Especially our young children are incredibly sensitive to all inputs. Therefore, it is not hard to imagine, that parents have acted negligently when it acted on their children and the new digital media.
Not vexatiously, but lack of knowledge.
generations, who have never known another
Generation Alpha, as the children born after 2010 called, have never known a world without the technology, which is everywhere.
Their parents have tried their way with them, and it is only now, that we are about to have roughly evidence, what passive consumption of media for children can do the damage.
There we however take decades before, that we know what it's done to generation Alpha and generation Z before.
If we use our common sense is the following, however, clear:
No child is able, to understand the world without, it is translated by adults. They have no prior knowledge of what they are born into, and must be guided. children must digitally educated from today 1, whatever the parents of prior experience.
Exactly why the 20 % children have developed fewer verbal language skills than their peers, is hard to say. If they have experienced much interaction with the screen and less with people, it is quite natural.
I will with my experience shooting at, there are several reasons behind the child's technology use thereby affecting its development.
'Monitor time’ alene – a term I would like to have stopped as soon as possible – can hardly cause so much delay in child development.
I may be wrong, but time will tell. In the meantime, we turn cold water in the blood and provide, that our children do not use technology without adult participation.
It is almost always our use or misuse, the underlying issues in the development of both large and small.
